The NCH Healthcare System was established about 60 years ago (as a small hospital 8 doctors and 25 beds). Today it is ranked among the Best Hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report; in fact this is the third year in a row that NCH has received this honor. NCH is among the largest non-governmental employers in Collier County. It has been voted as having the Best Doctors, Nurses, Image and Reputation by National Research Corp.- Consumer Choice Award in 2013. We have the first and only highly acclaimed open heart surgery program in Collier County. It is also the first in Florida and Southeastern US to be a Mayo Clinic Affiliate. Quality service is delivered by 3,900 employees and 1,100 volunteers. Over the past two years, more than 200 new colleagues have been added to the system.
NCH also has The Garden of Hope and Courage. This is a 2.5 acre healing sanctuary and memorial for Jan Emfield, a breast cancer patient who died in 1994. It has been inspired by her and the great courage of women who are faced with breast cancer, as well as all whose lives, have been touched by this horrific disease. The Garden officially opened in October 2006, after 13 years of fundraising, research and development. The garden has a one-acre lake centerpiece, formal garden, children’s garden and an open air social pavilion.
Another great healthcare system is the Physicians Regional Healthcare System. This system offers vital services such as Neurovascular, Stroke and Orthopedics care. There are two premier hospitals with 201 beds, medical staff of over 300 physicians, and an affiliated multispecialty group.
