First impressions make lasting impressions

Getting ready to put your property on the market?

You already know about decluttering and which major items to repair but attention to little details can make a difference in how things appear to buyers. Here are a few cosmetic touch ups to consider:

Inside the house:

  • Add a couple of floral arrangements, particularly orchids since we live in Florida, to entry areas, powder rooms, or dining rooms.
  • Beautiful stainless steel kitchen appliances and sinks should be bright and shiny.
  • New hardware on cabinetry is another quick fix.
  • Today’s trend in home styles is simplicity. Remove or replace old light fixtures in main living areas to open up the space.
  • A fresh coat of paint is always a winner.
  • Clean the carpets.
  • Appeal to the senses of smell and feel:  buyers love to enter a fresh and cool home!

Outside the house:

  • Doors, door knobs and welcome mats are the first things buyers see when they enter your property.  Make them look new.
  • Clean the entry lamps.
  • Neat and trim landscaping and some flowers are ever so welcoming.
  • Patch small cracks in entry, driveway and lanai areas.
